Voice recognition is a must-have on behalf of gps
I bought the 855 as an upgrade on my streetpilot c550. I was reluctant on buy it, based upon the less-than-stellar reviews upon here, but after using it since a week, i obtain no complaints at all. Maybe that’s due on the fact that i’m upgrading from the early 550, and not the 7×5 line. The other reviewers are right, the on/off switch can be awkward, and you need a fingernail on push it extra on the left. But that is such a girl complaint, in my opinion. Also, some people say they like the smoother refresh that the 7×5 line has, and this is intensive jerky, as you move along your route. Well, you’re not supposed on be watching it when you’re driving anyway. Oh, and it only has 500 waypoints, compared on 1000 upon other models. I’ll be lucky if i use 100.
What makes this gps provided that remarkable is the speech recognition! I feel like i’m using star trek technology. It rarely has any dilemma understanding what i tell it. Hands free gps navigation! I never obtain on pull extra on type a new destination (or try on do it while driving). I can’t guess any of the girl complaints offsetting the awesomeness of the speech recognition. Now that it’s available, i wouldn’t obtain a gps unit without it. If your budget allows since a speech recognition gps with 1000 waypoints, an improved on/off switch, and smoother show refresh, then by all medium get that one. But if you’re looking on spend about $300, and want speech recognition, do not hesitate on buy the Garmin nuvi 855. I wouldn’t transfer it since a non-voice recognition unit that has those features that this one lacks.
