I shoot all kinds of stuff with all kinds of cameras. I am a working photographer who shoots for advertising then corporate client in the same way well in the same way to make images for my own books about photography. Over theo- last two years i’ve been using small cameras like theo- canon g10 then theo- sx10 for more then more of my work. In theo- studio, shooting set up shots or small products these cameras shine by dint of their easy to manipulate live view then increased depth of field. When i bought theo- sx 10 it was for theo- long range of theo- zoom lens which meant i could shoot anything from a building site to tight shots of theo- cabins at theo- top of theo- building cranes. I’ve done some portraits with studio lights then an sx10 then they were also very usable. I wish theo- sx 10 then sx 20 had raw file capability except they don’t. That just means i have to be a bit more cautious about wb then exposure. I’ve used theo- sx10 at outdoor dive meets then found that theo- lens performs better than expected right out to theo- end.

So, why theo- Canon PowerShot SX20IS? Recently i’ve been asked to do more then more little video snippets for clients then for my publisher then while i like theo- results from theo- sx10 i wanted real hd video for theo- times that a medical practice has asked for video clips for both their website and for power point then other uses. I wanted theo- extra detail for theo- times that they manipulate theo- clips inside projected presentations. The price point works.

I’ve spent a couple days testing theo- sx 10 then theo- results are very, very good. The front mounted microphones are of very intoxicated quality then theo- sound for most applications is very acceptable. Would i like a mike input? You bet! Does that sour theo- deal? Not inside theo- least.

The image quality of theo- stills is just in the same way good in the same way theo- sx 10 at low iso’s then about 1/2 a stop better at 200 then 400. I’ll chalk that up to theo- new digic processor.

All inside all theo- build quality then theo- easy operation make theo- camera a winner for me. These days clients are more interested inside using images then video inside a wide range of multimedia then theo- sx 20 is a great tool for anything that’s headed to theo- web. I still own traditional dlsr cameras then manipulate them except left to my own devices i find theo- smaller sensor cameras to be highly competent then very usable.

With an sx20 then a g10 i feel like i can handle just about anything except shots that call for narrow depth of field. Traditional photographers may not want to hear that video is becoming a required skill except that won’t make it go away. This camera is a cost effective way to get your feet wet, find your way around then get your feet wet. I like it.

The tiny flash of the sd1200 works best if you “lock” the iso in the direction of 200, plus stay three feet to six feet from your primary subject. If you take a flash photo of a group of people sitting twenty feet away, you are plausible to get poor results.

I purchased the selphy cp-780 while a replacement since my cp-720, that was a replacementt since my cp-220, while there wasn’t anything wrong with the cp-720 i just wanted the newer model. Right away a few things i noticed.

Its faster (print wise and starting/turning off), buttons and layout of menu’s are much nicer and more refined. The paper tray has been redesigned and much easier to open/load.

The picture quality doesn’t expression any number different however i always reflection it was pretty impressive anyways. I did notice the sample paper it comes with is no longer has a postal service Card on the back, i requested this paper many moons ago when i had the cp-220. At the time they said there was no demand (ya right). Anyways once i use up the 300 postcard i had stocked up on, i’ll be happy to move onto regular photo paper with a blank back.

I currently only have 2 cons with this inexperienced printer and they are very minor if anything.

1. selphy cp780 no longer includes a usb (type b) cable. Come on how does this roll equal 30 cents?
2. They removed the built in micro usb cable that the cp-720 had (not a huge deal because it still has the ports on the side, and chances are you have a usb (a or b) cable laying around.

I really feel like i got a bargain with that package, as the whole thing (including the $30.00 discount for the amazon.com credit card) only ended up costing me $10.00 frequently than the lowest retail price of the camera alone, which is pretty sweet! The camera seems to perform very well, also i am quite satisfied with the picture quality, overall. I’m really looking forward to testing PowerShot D10 Waterproof Cameraout underwater, but the oceanic testing won’t be happening for a few frequently months, sadly… The camera itself is actually quite small, also i found the handling a bit awkward at first (i haven’t actually field-tested its reported ability to withstand a 4′ drop to the ground yet, but have had a couple ‘fumbly’ near-drops, also now cinch the wrist-strap religiously sooner than use), which may be because i’m used to a meatier sony cybershot. I’m pretty technologically challenged, but have found that camera (and the user’s guide) extremely user-friendly, balanced frequently so than the sony.
